Dangote Cement is the most widely used cement brand on building sites across Nigeria, from small home extensions in Ibadan to large commercial developments in Lagos and Abuja. A single 50kg bag is the standard unit builders and merchants quote against, which is why we track it that way instead of by truckload or pallet.

Prices move for a few predictable reasons. Transport cost from the factory or depot to your state is the biggest factor -- building materials in Lagos or Ogun (closer to major plants) are often cheaper than the same bag sold in the South-East or far North, where haulage adds significantly to the landed cost. Fuel prices ripple through this fast, since almost all cement moves by road. Naira depreciation also matters indirectly: even though cement is produced locally, the machinery, packaging, and some inputs are imported, so a weaker naira tends to push prices up over time.

Buying in bulk (a full trailer load of 600 bags, for instance) typically brings the per-bag price down noticeably compared to buying a handful of bags from a local building materials store. Retail prices at a small neighbourhood store are almost always higher than what a large hardware depot or distributor charges, simply because of the extra handling and lower volume.

The range shown on this page comes from real buyers telling us what they actually paid, reviewed by hand before it changes the number you see. If you are budgeting for a build, treat this as a starting reference and always confirm with your local supplier, since block quantity, location, and timing all shift the final price you will pay.

How this is calculated. The range and average come from prices people reported, reviewed before they count. Reports within 10% of the current range apply immediately; anything further outside is checked by hand first.
